The metaphysical neutrality of cognitive science

Abstract Progress in psychology and the cognitive sciences is often taken to vindicate physicalism cast doubt on such extravagant metaphysical theses as dualism idealism. The goal of this paper argue that science has no implications—rather, evidence from largely (but not wholly) irrelevant mind-body problem. Our argument begins with observation data can be modeled by supervenience relations. We then show relations are neutral, showing how they coherently interpreted physicalist, idealist, dualist terms. distinguish several types relation, each coheres better some positions problem than other. Since these variants empirically equivalent, there a possibility will end up supporting more others. It sense mostly, but wholly, neutral.
